Installation

Recommended Installation Procedures:

Alumiseal Zero Perm Vapor Barrier 4'0'' x 250'0'' (1,000 sq ft per roll) Alumiseal Zero Perm Pressure Sensitive Tape 1 1/2'' x 200'0''. (Generally two rolls of tape are required to seal the joints of each roll of vapor barrier.) The Alumiseal recommended adhesives can be purchased anywhere in the U.S. These adhesives can be obtained in 5-gallon pails, or for smaller projects, spray adhesives.

Walls/Metal or Wood Studs:

Zero Perm can be installed over wood or metal stud walls using Alumiseal recommended adhesive or staples. If staples are used the Zero Perm tape must cover all penetrations. In either case the joints of the vapor barrier should be butted and sealed with Zero Perm tape.

Walls/Masonry:

Zero Perm can be installed against masonry in a full coverage of Alumiseal recommended adhesive or spot adhered depending upon the architect's specification. The adhesive can easily be applied by smooth paint roller, brush or spray. After applying the adhesive allow it to become tacky before installing the vapor barrier. The joints of the vapor barrier can be either butted and sealed with Alumiseal Zero Perm Pressure Sensitive Tape or overlapped a minimum of 1 1/2'' and sealed with Alumiseal recommended adhesive.

Roof:

Single ply, ballasted roof systems in general building construction:

Alumiseal Zero Perm Vapor Barrier shall be applied directly over metal or concrete roof deck with joints butted and sealed with Alumiseal Zero Perm Pressure Sensitive Tape or joints lapped a minimum of 1 1/2'' and sealed with Alumiseal recommended adhesive. Adhesive can be spot adhered to secure vapor barrier to roof deck.

Cold Storage Roof System:

Alumiseal Zero Perm should be applied as outlined above with the exception that the vapor barrier would be placed over or on top of the roof insulation and directly under the single ply roof system.

Notes:

Please follow the adhesive manufactures installation procedure when applying adhesive to the Alumiseal Zero Perm Vapor Barrier Membrane. Should other building materials be applied over the vapor barrier, additional fastening systems are recommended. Should furring or finish sheet be attached over the vapor barrier surface, the fastener penetrating the vapor barrier should pass through a bead of quality butyl caulking. All staple heads should be covered and sealed with Zero Perm Pressure Sensitive tape.

Please follow applicable architects' specifications for your project.
